You're The Man Now, Dog

It's been too long since the internet got itself some FadeIn love.

James told me that he has the impression that masturbation is somehow beneath me.

In reply, I can only say that it's been exactly 41 days.

Those black and white drawings of women in bras in the newspaper ads are barely beneath me. Store display mannequins are barely beneath me. At this point, particularly curvy sections of road are looking pretty damn good.

Even Aunt Jemima has her charms.

More evidence that no one was thinking when they built this city:

No public transportation means that there is nowhere to make flirty eye contact. In Chicago, that's half the fun of taking the El. It's included in the fare.

CBS Screenwriting Program update: It's over Friday.

These five weeks really flew by. In the past week, we've had some interesting speakers. One was a woman who wrote a little movie called 'Bring It On.' Because of that, she has four other films in development. She also wrote for a show called 'Sex and the City.'

You may have heard of it.

We had these other speakers who worked for acquisitions at Warner Brothers. Their jobs are amazing. They fly around to film festivals in Cannes, Hawaii, London, anywhere in the world. If they see something they like, they buy it.

Rough life.

They told a great story about two television writers who found a great way to break into the business. If you want to write for television, what you do is write 'spec' scripts for existing shows and send them out to agents, in the hopes that agents like them and try to get you a job. They wrote a spec for the Olsen twins show.

This particular spec was called 'Ashley Gets Her Period.' Apparently, it was the dirtiest, nastiest, filthiest thing they could write. Totally out of character with the show, and hilarious.

There was a bidding war over these guys.

Bastards.

So, tomorrow, I pitch my script to a real muckity-muck. My pitch will rock, I tell you what. Wish me luck.

Oh, and I read the script last night for 'Finding Forrester.' I still can't believe that the line "You're the man now, dog!" is in that script, written without apparent irony.
