As A Result Of

Sometimes, I feel stuck for a story, an idea. It happens to all writers occasionally. You want to write, but you sit there in front of your keyboard, struggling to come up with something that hasn't been done, or something that isn't cheesy or trite.

But, it really isn't all that hard to come up with an idea, if you try hard enough. There are some simple exercises I've come up with that can help. I've done some free association here, and I think that nearly any one of these vignettes could be fleshed out into a story.

A man is accidentally crushed in a construction accident...

whose now aimless son mugs a man and puts him in a coma, a man...

whose fiance stole him from her sister...

who, depressed, goes to Mexico to get away and meets another man...

whose father left him as a child to go to America...

where he played small parts in Westerns in Hollywood until he was fired...

by an alcoholic producer, who got into a car accident that same day...

with a mother and her ten year old son, about which the boy later wrote a story...

which was read by a little girl who was in a car accident too, prompting her to write a letter to the boy..

which was delivered by a postal worker who was in love with a young woman on his route...

whose boyfriend was cheating on her with another man...

who taught an English class at the local Catholic university, a class attended by..

the grandson of the man who died in the construction accident.

Perhaps not brilliant, but not too difficult. And plausible.
