You know, I was looking back over some of my older entries and I feel the need to explain something. Remember the last wedding I went to? The one where I encountered the woman in the hotel bar who offered my girlfriend unsolicited oral sex advice? I think I wrote that she 'took an instant dislike to me' or something along those lines. I should point out that (to the best of my knowledge, anyway) I do not usually evoke instantaneous hatred from females when I enter public places. Nope, this particular woman was provoked not by my mere presence, but because I am a Smart Ass.

A small group of us from the reception, sans bride and groom, walked into the hotel bar. A group of about five people completely unassociated with the wedding were already there, all of them pretty well sloshed. Innocently, the Hate Woman addressed our group with a general question. She called out "So, how was the wedding?"

My straight faced reply: "It was a fucking catastrophe."

I was amused. My people seemed to be amused. She was perhaps to drunk to be amused. And, considering what a freak the woman turned out to be, that is OK. I am always surprised when people don't like me, as I am the type of chap who is apt to get along with almost anyone.

The lesson here is that being yourself in a hotel bar can lead to mildly funny anecdotes that don't really go anywhere.

Today is my Philosophical Issues in Film class. It will clearly be one of my favorite classes. Last week, as I said, we watched 'Goodfellas.' According to the prof, it asks the question "What would one do if they could do anything they wanted, without suffering consequences from man or God?" Neat, eh? My prof is big into ethical issues. We spent the first hour of the first class discussing how we, personally, determine right from wrong. It's a very hard question to answer.

As for myself, I've always thought that behaving in a 'good' way is preferable because it makes your life 'easier.' If you avoid lying, cheating, and stealing, you don't have to deal with any of the conssequences associated with them, such as emotional drama, hurting the feelings of others, or jail time. It isn't too bad a scheme when you're not entirely sure there are moral absolutes. Of course, like a lot of other theories, it doesn't hold up under close scrutiny. What if you don't care about the consequences? What if stealing does indeed make things 'easier' for you? What is 'easier?' Philosophy is like science and art. Any answer results in two more questions. It's enough to make a boy go back to the good ol' Golden Rule.

A surprising amount of people in the class said that they determine right from wrong through "karma."

Far out, man.

Today we might watch some porn and ask the question: "What does one do when one delivers a pizza and the door is opened by three naked sluts?" Shockingly, Plato asked the same question in his recently discovered text Pornographus. It has bawdy illustrations and everything.

On a final note, since this came up last thursday, did I ever tell you guys about the time I accidentally killed a chicken?
